Cates and Makowsky named CFL All-Stars

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are pleased to announce that two offensive players have been chosen to the CFL All-Star team. The CFL All-Stars were selected by voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC), the eight CFL head coaches and CFL fans from across the country.

WES CATES (RB): In his third CFL season, Cates earns his first CFL all-star nomination. Cates had a career regular season in which he led the team and was second in the CFL with 1,229 rushing yards. His 12 rushing touchdowns led the CFL. He also recorded 39 receptions for 488 yards and three touchdowns. Cates was also named the Riders nominee as Most Outstanding Player.

GENE MAKOWSKY (OL): In his 14th CFL season, Makowsky earns his fourth CFL all-star all-star nomination. The 34-year old lineman has also been named the CFL's Most Outstanding Lineman twice and is the West nominee for Most Outstanding Lineman this year. Makowsky started all 18 regular season games this season at tackle, guard and centre.
