Halifax Mooseheads News Release

All good things must come to an end, and that's what happened for the Mooseheads on the road trip finale in Shawinigan on Saturday. Reece Peitzsche scored the lone goal of the game against his former team and the Cataractes took down the Herd 1-0 to snap a 10-game point streak that had dated back to January 7th and saw Halifax go 7-0-3 over that stretch.

Jack Milner did his part between the pipes in Shawinigan with 24 saves but his teammates couldn't mount much of an attack in their third game in less that 48 hours. The Moose fired 19 shots on goal as Mathys Fernandez earned the shutout. Halifax was coming off a pair of hard-fought victories over a pair of contenders in Victoriaville and Drummondville and didn't appear to have much left in the tank for Saturday's game.

Forward Braeden MacPhee joined Peter Reynolds and Jordan Dumais on the injured list after suffering an upper body injury in Drummondville that will keep him out indefinitely. Antoine Fontaine was the final scratch after warmup with an illness.

Overall, the road trip can be deemed a huge success for the Mooseheads (31-12-7-1) with two key victories that widened their Maritimes Division lead to 10 points over the Moncton Wildcats with 17 games remaining on the regular season schedule.

Halifax will return home to snowy Nova Scotia this week for a pair of games at Scotiabank Centre. The Mooseheads welcome Saint John for Student Night on Thursday at 7pm. Tickets are just $10 for all students. Then, it's Charlottetown's turn to visit Moose Country on Saturday night at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.ca.
