Moncton Wildcats News Release

Moncton, NB - News of the chance to win a cash prize of $100,000 at the March 10th Rivalry Cup between the Moncton Wildcats and Saint John Sea Dogs has spread through Southeastern New Brunswick, like whiteouts in a winter blizzard.

"Following Tuesday's announcement, the fan response has been so exciting and positive, we've upped the ante for the second intermission Score-0 type shootout to $125,000 as of today," Wildcats general manager Bill Schurman announced.

Saint John challenged Moncton to find out who has the most dedicated hockey fans in the province. The Times&Transcript took up the challenge and offered the Rivalry Cup to the winning city. Saint John attracted 5,585 fans to the game on February 8th. The Cats won the game 3-1. In order to win the trophy, the Wildcats need to put 5,789 fans in the Coliseum seats.

Schurman says, "That's our goal, that's our ambition, that's the objective and we fully expect to claim the Cup. We're showing no mercy toward the Saint John fans. This will be a hockey game with exceptional entertainment excitement."

The shoot-out plan calls for an elimination in the first intermission, setting up the drama for the big money shot following the second period. In addition, there'll be another shoot-out for $25,000 worth of quality furniture from Lounsbury Furniture.

Group tickets for the March 10th contest are available from the Wildcats office by calling 382-5555, while individual tickets can be booked through the Coliseum Box Office by calling 857-4100 or on line at tickets.moncton.ca.
