LINCOLN, Neb. - Lincoln Stars forward Casey Dornbach has announced his commitment to Harvard University, a NCAA Division I program in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).

"Getting a great education is very important to me," said Dornbach. "It's an Ivy League school, they get great players for their program, and they find ways to be consistently successful. It's always been a dream of mine to go to an Ivy League school."

Dornbach, 20, has recorded two goals and three assists for five points with a +1 rating in eight games this season. The Edina, Minn. product recorded a three-point night (2 goals, assist) on October 14 against Des Moines including the game-winning goal. Through 66 career USHL games, Dornbach owns 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points with two power play goals, one shorthanded goal, four game-winning goals, and a +14 rating. After serving as captain at Edina High School, the 5-foot-11, 177-pound forward was drafted by the Stars in the 2014 USHL Phase II Draft.

Harvard University has been recognized as one of the most prestigious and recognizable schools in the country, and hockey program has also built a strong resumé. The Crimson reached the NCAA Frozen Four last season and made the NCAA Tournament for three-straight years. Since 1955, the program owns 24 NCAA Tournament appearances, 24 Ivy League Championships, 13 NCAA Frozen Four appearances, and the 1989 NCAA Championship.

"I loved everything about [Harvard] when I went on my visit. From the coaching staff to the players to the tradition both inside and out of the locker room, it's everything I could have wanted in a collegiate program."

Dornbach will join two familiar faces at Harvard University: current Stars goaltender Derek Schaedig, and alum Henry Bowlby, who is currently a freshman at Harvard.

Dornbach becomes the second player this season to commit to a NCAA Division I program. Currently, 16 active Stars players are committed to a collegiate program.
