(Cooperstown, N.Y., July 24, 2009) - Current Long Island Ducks manager and member of the Hall of Fame Class of 2003, Gary Carter, will be joining 50 other living members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend for ceremonies up to and including the induction ceremony for the Class of 2009 on Sunday. New inductees include former Atlantic Leaguer Rickey Henderson and Red Sox legend Jim Rice.

"It's always wonderful to take part in the Hall of Fame weekend," said Carter. "I'm a very proud member of the Hall and excited to be able to be on hand. Of course, we better take care of business against Bridgeport here while I'm gone."

The 2009 Induction Ceremony will be held on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, where seating is unlimited. The Ceremony will be televised live on MLB Network, broadcast nationally on Sirius XM Radio Home Plate Channel 175 and will be available via a Webcast at www.baseballHall.org.

In Carter's absence, pitching coach Dave LaPoint will helm the team for the three-game tilt against Cross-Sound rival Bridgeport.

The Long Island Ducks are in their tenth anniversary season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Citibank Park. For more information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
