
Carter and Gallant sign with Blue

WINNIPEG, MB - Cornerback Tim Carter and safety Shawn Gallant signed today with the Winnipeg Football Club. Carter (Import, 5-11, 195, Tulane '00, DOB: July 15, 1978 in Tallahassee, FL) and Gallant (Non-Import, 6-1, 210, Eastern Kentucky '99, DOB: Oct. 14, 1976 in Windsor, ON).
"We look forward to Carter regaining his form in the upcoming season as he brings coverage skills with great athletic ability," said Brendan Taman, General Manager.
"Shawn Gallant is a capable non-import player that will upgrade our Canadian talent," said Brendan Taman.

THE CFL YEARS - 2004
Did not play due to injury.
THE CFL YEARS - 2003
The Big Blue landed a good one in Carter when they signed him mid-way through the 2003 CFL campaign. He played in seven regular-season games for the club plus the 2003 West Division Semifinal.
He led the club in pass knockdowns with seven - a total that set the club's rookie record in that category. He added 15 defensive tackles and one interception for zero yards to his totals.
THE NFL-EUROPE YEARS - BERLIN THUNDER
THE 2003 SEASON
Carter returned to the Berlin Thunder in 2003 for his 2nd NFL-Europe campaign. He was a leader on the club, registering 22 defensive tackles, two forced fumbles and a pass knockdown.
THE 2002 SEASON
Carter started nine games for the Thunder before suffering a bicep injury. He recorded 33 defensive tackles, three pass knockdowns, three special teams tackles and two interceptions.
THE NFL YEARS - NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
THE 2001 SEASON
Carter went to NFL-Europe after being allocated by the NFL's New Orleans Saints, who originally signed him Apr. 26, 2001. He attended the Saints 2001 training camp, only to be released at its conclusion, Aug. 28, 2001.
Quickly though, the Saints reclaimed Carter, signing the promising young corner to their practice roster. Carter spent the majority of the 2001 NFL season on the Saints' practice roster. The club activated him for the final two games of the 2001 season. He notched one defensive tackle in a game against the San Francisco 49ers.
THE COLLEGE YEARS - TULANE GREEN WAVE
Carter was a key member of the Tulane University Green Wave from 1996-2000. He ended his glorious college career with 114 defensive tackles, 18 pass knockdowns, four forced fumbles and three interceptions. He appeared in every game of Tulane's undefeated (12-0) season of 1998.
SHAWN GALLANT BIO
CFL YEARS - OTTAWA RENEGADES - 2004
Gallant played in five regular season games and had two tackles, one quarterback sack and seven special teams tackles. He also had two tackles for losses for four yards.
CFL YEARS - OTTAWA RENEGADES - 2003
Gallant had three tackles and two special teams tackles in four regular season games.
CFL YEARS - OTTAWA RENEGADES - 2002
Gallant was selected by the Ottawa Renegades in phase one of the 2002 Ottawa Expansion Draft.
He played in 15 regular season games and was tied for the Club lead (with John Grace) with 16 special teams tackles. He also had 18 defensive tackles.
CFL YEARS - SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS - 2001
Gallant played all 18 regular season games compiling 36 defensive tackles, one fumble recovery, one quarterback sack and three interceptions returns for 103 yards and one touchdown. He also had six special teams tackles.
CFL YEARS - SASKATCHEWAN ROUCHRIDERS - 2000
Gallant was drafted by Saskatchewan in the 2nd round (8th overall) of the 2000 Canadian College Draft.
He had three defensive tackle and 16 special teams tackles in 14 regular season games.
