Frederick Keys News Release

FREDERICK, MD. - Dennicher Carrasco battered the Frederick Keys (4-6, 33-46), ending a triple shy of the cycle and knocking in four runs in a 7-2 victory for the Wilmington Blue Rocks (6-4, 50-29) on Saturday night at Nymeo Field. With the score tied 1-1, Carrasco came to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs in the third and lined a double into the right-field gap that cleared the bases and gave Wilmington a 4-1 lead. He also homered in the sixth. On top of that, the Keys offense was held to just three hits.

Wilmington jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after Blake Perkins cracked a triple to deep center field and scored on a tapper up the first baseline off the bat of Brewer Hicklen.

The Keys answered right back in the bottom of the inning. Sean Miller singled to lead off the frame and advanced to third on a throwing error from Carrasco on a sacrifice bunt. A batter later, Rito Lugo walked the bases loaded, and Miller was able to score on a fielder's choice groundout from Trevor Craport to tie the game 1-1.

Lugo (2-2) settled in from there. The lefthander allowed two more to reach base over the next four innings. He struck out five, walked three and gave up two hits in five innings of work.

After a clean second inning, Blaine Knight struggled to find the strike zone in the third. Rudy Martin reached on an error at the start of the frame, but Knight walked two batters to load the bases with two outs. Carrasco then cleared them with a double and after another walk, Knight got out of the inning.

He rebounded to retire the next six batters in order. Knight (0-5) was dealt the loss after allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits, four walks and three strikeouts over five innings. It is his fifth straight loss.

Carrasco hit his sixth home run of the season in the sixth inning, and Nick Pratto slugged one over the center field wall with one man on in the eighth to give the Blue Rocks a commanding 7-1 lead.

The Keys would score one more in the bottom of the eighth on J.C. Escarra's RBI groundout.

Miller finished with one hit while Robbie Thorburn tallied the other two for the Keys.

The Keys and Blue Rocks meet for the final time in the 2019 campaign on Sunday, June 30. RHP Cody Sedlock (4-0, 2.05) will start for Frederick opposite LHP Austin Cox (0-0, 1.69) for Wilmington.
