Carolina Mudcats News Release
Chattanooga, TN --- Adam Bostick allowed one run in six innings in his Double-A debut as the Carolina Mudcats defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts 6-1 at Bell South Park on Saturday night.
Bostick (W, 1-0), recalled from High-A Jupiter late Friday night, fanned two and allowed five hits to lead the Mudcats (31-17) a game closer to first place West Tenn. The Mudcats, who are now 6-0 at Bell South in 2005, inched to within 1 1/2 of the Diamond Jaxx, who lost to Birmingham 3-2 on Saturday night.
Dennis Anderson doubled, singled and drove in two runs. Anderson swatted a one-strike slider from Richie Gardner (L, 2-5) against the base of the right-centerfield wall in the second inning to score Frank Moore. In the fourth, Anderson flipped a 2-2 slider to short left field to bring Moore in again for a 2-0 lead.
After the Lookouts (21-28) scored a run against Bostick in the fourth, Carolina closed out the game with three runs in the eighth and another in the ninth against the Chattanooga bullpen. Former Lookout Jason Hill, who finished a homer shy of the cycle on Friday night, drilled a two-run shot against Jason Andrew in the eighth for a 4-1 lead. Chris Bass later singled home Moore with two outs.
In the ninth, a James Shanks sacrifice fly completed the scoring.
Mike McNutt (S, 1) worked the final three innings, allowing two hits and fanning four to earn his first save of the season.
The Mudcats are 8-2 against the Lookouts this season.
Nic Ungs (2-4) starts Sunday night at 7:15 PM ET against Chattanooga's Ben Kozlowski (2-0).
