Carolina-Huntsville Suspended

Huntsville, AL --- Tuesday's scheduled doubleheader between the Carolina Mudcats and Huntsville Stars was reduced to a game one suspended contest due to rain, reducing Carolina's magic number to clinching the Northern Division title to two.

Carolina and the Stars will resume the opening game at 6:05 PM ET in the bottom of the 4th with Huntsville leading 4-1. That game will be played to a seven-inning final, followed by another seven-inning game. The series, scheduled to be five games, will only play four due to rainy weather in the Huntsville area since Monday. Tennessee was rained out on Tuesday night, and will make that up as part of a doubleheader with the Chattanooga Lookouts at Smokies Park on Wednesday. Consequently, the Smokies are still on pace to play a 70-game second half, with Carolina maximizing at 69. Carolina's lead in the second half remains at 5 1/2, with any combination of two Mudcats wins or two Smokies losses clinches the second half title for the Mudcats. The Southern League playoffs begin next week.
