
Diamond Jaxx swept in double header

(Jackson, TN) August 26th- The Montgomery Biscuits swept a doubleheader from the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx on Tuesday night at Pringles Park, winning the first game 10-2 and blanking the Diamond Jaxx in the nightcap 3-0.
In the opener, Montgomery scored six runs in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie as the Biscuits went on for the 10-2 win. Rhyne Hughes drew a lead-off walk off losing pitcher Jason Kershner (2-2) to begin the big inning. Erold Andrus singled to right, putting runners at first and second with nobody out. Sergio Pedroza walked to load the bases. Aaron Cotter came in to relieve Kershner and was greeted by a two run double off the bat of Neil Walton to make it a 3-1 Biscuits lead. Craig Albernaz doubled to make it 4-1. With runners at second and third and nobody out, Josh Asanovich singled in a run to make it a 5-1 Biscuits lead. After Cotter retired the next two batters, Albernaz scored from third on a wild pitch to make it 6-1 and Gaby Martinez doubled in Asanovich to cap off the six run sixth inning.
Jeremy Hellickson picked up the win for the Biscuits, moving his record to 4-3 on the season. Hellickson allowed a run on six hits with three walks and nine strikeouts over five innings of work. Albernaz finished the game 3-4 with three RBI's while Neil Walton drove in two runs to help lead the ten run eleven hit Biscuit attack.
Greg Halman had the only Diamond Jaxx RBI while Mark Kiger had three hits to help lead the Diamond Jaxx eight hit attack. Gabe Johnson chipped in with two hits.
In the nightcap, James Houser and three relievers combined on a three hit shutout to lead the Biscuits to a sweep of the doubleheader. Johnny Raburn, Erold Andrus and Neil Walton drove in a run each for the Biscuits, who improved their second half record to 34-29. Eddie Morlan picked up the win for the Biscuits in relief of Houser, who left the game with an apparent injury. Morlan (4-2) pitched two perfect innings, striking out three.
Luis Munoz picked up the tough luck loss, dropping his record with the Diamond Jaxx to 1-1. Mark Kiger had two of the three hits for the Diamond Jaxx, whose second half record falls to 27-36. Kiger has a hit in his last eight games.
The rubber game of the five game series and final regular season home game of the 2008 Southern League season takes place on Wednesday night at 7:05 CDT. Left-hander Ed Paredes (0-1 21.60) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Montgomery will counter with lefty Mike Prochaska (4-5 5.15).
