Carmichael Named Player of the Week

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc goaltender, Matt Carmichael, has been named the SPHL Sher-Wood Hockey Player of the Week.

The Ottawa, Ontario native went 2-0 on the week with a 1.00 goal against average and a 96.6 save percentage. He defeated the Knoxville Ice Bears 2-1 on the road Thursday night and beat the Fayetteville FireAntz 4-1 at home on Friday night. Knoxville and Fayetteville are atop the SPHL standings and lead the league in scoring. He has played in 12 games and leads the SPHL in wins with eight. He has a 3.19 goal against average and a 91.3 save percentage.

Carmichael made a seven hour trip to Pensacola on Saturday helped the Ice Pilots of the ECHL beat the Bakersfield Condors 2-1 after making 48 saves. Pensacola then fell to Bakersfield 5-1 on Sunday afternoon. He returned to Huntsville on Monday and left with the team yesterday for a three-game road trip.
