Care-A-Van Makes Stop At Local Hospital

SPOKANE, WA - The Spokane Indians and Premera Blue Cross are once again teaming up to bring the Care-A-Van to children in local hospitals. The Care-A-Van will feature members of the 2005 Spokane Indians baseball team, as well as members of the Indians and Premera Blue Cross staffs. OTTO the Mascot will lead the Care-A-Van on six trips to visit local children in the hospital. "Dr. OTTO", who will be dressed in full medical garb complete with stethoscope, will get the Care-A-Van rolling on Wednesday, June 29th. The Care-A-Van will make its first stop of the year at Sacred Heart Hospital on Wednesday, June 29th at 10:00 am.

"The Indians are proud to be a part of the Care-A-Van program for the sixth straight year," said Indians President Andy Billig. "It's a great opportunity for the players and staff to make a difference in a young person's life."

Not only will the children get to meet and visit with the Indians players, but they will also receive wellness Care-A-Van promotional items such as Care-A-Van water bottles, hat, soft baseballs and sports bags. Tickets to future Indians games will also be donated to allow many of the children to attend a game at Avista Stadium.

Stefanie Overbey of Premera Blue Cross stated, "It's a great opportunity for the players to get up close and personal with the kids. It's a highlight for the patients and a little bit of sunshine for these kids as well."

The Care-A-Van will be making a total of six stops throughout the season. The following is a complete Care-A-Van schedule.

June 29 - 10:00 am - Sacred Heart Medical Center

July 6 - 10:00 am - Shriner's Hospital

July 6 - 11:00 am - Ronald McDonald House

July 14 - 10:00 am - Sacred Heart Medical Center

July 28 - 10:00 am - Holy Family Hospital

August 17 - 10:00 am - Shriner's Hospital
