Wichita, KS - LHP Kenny Hernandez struck out eight batters through 5.0 one-run frames to pace the Springfield Cardinals (7-12) to the 9-1 runaway win against the Wichita Wind Surge (9-10) on Friday night at Riverfront Stadium.

Hernandez started his outing by striking out the side in the 1st and racked up seven strikeouts through his first 3.0 innings alone... He allowed just the one run on four hits and one walk, coming one strikeout shy from matching his career high... Consecutive two-out RBI singles from DH Jacob Buchberger and 2B Nick Dunn provided an early 2-0 lead in the 1st... 1B Chandler Redmond and Buchberger slugged back-to-back solo home runs in the 3rd...
