Springfield Cardinals News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Delvin Perez had a three-hit night and Cardinals starter Dalton Roach tossed 6.0 impressive innings in a 6-4 Springfield win over the Tulsa Drillers on Wednesday night at Hammons Field.
The win pushed Springfield's win streak to a season-high four games as the Cardinals have won the first two of a six-game series against North Division rival Tulsa.
Roach improved his record to 4-5, allowing just two runs on six hits and two walks over his 6.0 full innings, striking out five. Both runs came on solo home runs by Drillers batters in the fourth and fifth innings.
Tulsa led 2-1 before a five-run Cardinals fifth inning. Aaron Antonini got things going with a bases loaded RBI groundout, scoring Nick Plummer and tying the game 2-2. A two-run double by Perez off the wall in deep left center easily pushed two more Cardinals runs across for a 4-2 lead. A single by Brendan Donovan and a sacrifice fly courtesy of Ivan Herrera put Springfield ahead 6-2.
Perez finished the night 3-for-4, upping his batting average to .308. Luken Baker rocketed a pair of doubles after Tuesday night's walkoff home run, scoring twice.
Ramon Santos recorded his first save of the season, shutting down the Drillers over the final 1.1 innings, striking out two.
