Palm Beach Cardinals News Release

JUPITER, FL - With the 6-4 win by the Cardinals on Friday night, they increased their lead in the East Division to 1 1/2 games over the Brevard County Manatees who were rained out in their game against the Daytona Cubs.

The Manatees will now make the drive up to Daytona to play a doubleheader on Saturday at 5:30, while the Cardinals will host the Hammerheads at 6:05. Any combination of Cardinals' wins or Manatees' losses totaling two would clinch the second half East Division title, therefore, setting up a three-game playoff series between the Cardinals and the Vero Beach Dodgers, who won the first half.

If the Manatees lose one of their two games against the Cubs on Saturday and the Cardinals win, or if the Manatees lose both games, the Cardinals will clinch tomorrow. If not, then the division will be up for grabs on the final day of the season.

Lefthander Oscar Alvarez will make the start against the Hammerheads tomorrow for the Cardinals. Righty James Russ will toe the slab for the Hammerheads.
