
Cardinals Give Up 19 Hits in Defeat

Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
Jupiter, FL - Palm Beach (15-21) gave up 19 hits on Friday night that would end in a 13-1 defeat to the Bradenton Marauders (16-18).
The Rundown
Jack Flaherty (0-4) would be on the bad end of four errors and suffer the loss because of it. He would pitch five innings in the defeat, give up ten hits, surrender seven runs (three earned), while only striking out two batters.
Bradenton would have a runner on in the first three innings and would end up having base runners in seven of the nine innings on the night. The Cardinals could not find a way to get outs or get hits on the evening.
Bradenton would score first in the second as Taylor Gushue and Jordan Luplow would both single to start the frame then advance on a Sac Bunt off the bat of Elvis Escobar. Gushue would score as Andrew Brodbeck threw the ball away trying to get the out. Connor Joe would then ground out to short allowing the second one the come in as they would lead 2-0.
The Cardinals would then get one back in the fourth and cut the lead in half at 2-1. Danny Diekroeger would reach base via a hit by pitch and then get to second on a deep fly ball to center. Casey Grayson would then get his second hit of the day as he hit a double to drive in Diekroeger. This would be all that the Cardinals would score on the night.
They would then give up five runs in the fifth inning as they had two errors in the frame and Flaherty would give up four hits. He would come out of the game after the fifth and Michael Heesch would spell him. Heesch would give up two runs of his own as he would give up three hits in the sixth and allow Kevin Kramer and Jeff Roy to score.
Kyle Grana would then pitch in the eight giving up five hits and allowing four runs to score in the inning. Cody Schumacher would then pitch a scoreless ninth only giving up the one hit. Stat of the Game
3 - Casey Grayson was 3-4 on the night and recorded three of the four Cardinals hits on the night.
Notes
The Cardinals have won only one game in the month of May, as they not sit at 1-12 during that span.
This was the second game in a row that the Cardinals had four errors in the field.
Grayson had his first three hit game of the season as he hit two singles and a double on the night.
Three Marauders players had four hits each on the night, Kevin Newman, Chase Simpson, and Taylor Gushue.
Next Up
The Cardinals will come back to Roger Dean Stadium tomorrow as they play the second game of a three game series against Bradenton. The Cardinals will look to Austin Gomber (3-2) to the mound as Bradenton will counter with Alex McRae (2-2).
