Cardinals Doubled Up by Crosscutters

This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the New Jersey Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) lost 8-4 to the Williamsport Crosscutters (Pittsburgh Pirates). The Cardinals drop to 11-18 on the season, and the Crosscutters improve to 20-8. Jason John (0-1) took the loss for the Cardinals, as Scott Tower (1-1) picked up the win for Williamsport.

The Cardinals plated all four of their runs in the second inning. Kevin Estrada led off the bottom of the second with a triple and was then singled home by Matt Pagnozzi. Following a foul out by Omar Pena, Chris Tuttle reached on a fielders choice. Melvin Falu then blasted his second homerun of the season over the left field fence to give the Cardinals a 3-1 lead. Jose Virgil then walked and later scored on a rbi-single from Daylon Monette. Estrada led the team with two hits, a triple and a single.

The Cardinals will take on the Crosscutters again tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. New Jersey then heads to Hudson Valley for a game on Friday against the Renegades. The Cardinals face the Renegades Saturday at 5 p.m. in Augusta, New Jersey. Saturday there will be a six pack cooler giveaway by Service Electric Television along with a family catch on the field sponsored by Pepsi. There will be a scout sleepover following Saturdays game sponsored by the Chatterbox.
