
Captains Sweep Loons to Get Back to .500

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains swept the Great Lakes Loons on Tuesday afternoon at Classic Park in Eastlake. The Captains have evened their record for the first time since April 11th when they were 3-3, the Captains now stand at 19-19, and have won four straight.
The Captains scored two runs in the sixth inning. The big hit in the inning was an Alex Monsalve RBI single. The Loons walked two in the inning, one intentionally and hit two Captains while committing one error and the Captains pushed across two runs. It was a 2-0 Captains lead heading to the seventh inning.
In the seventh, Lake County added on. The big hit in the inning was a double by Luigi Rodriguez, which scored Jerrud Sabourin from first base. Luigi scampered home when Francisco Lindor hit a single up the middle. That made the score 4-0.
Great Lakes got on the scoreboard in the ninth inning when Joe Winker unloaded his fourth homerun of the season and the score was 4-1. That run snapped a 12.1 scoreless inning streak by Cole Cook. The final was 4-1 Lake County. The Loons committed four errors for the second consecutive day.
The Loons sent RHP Gustavo Gomez (2-3) to the hill. Gomez got the loss, his line was 5.2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5K. Matt Shelton relieved him in the sixth inning and pitched an inning allowin two runs both of which were un-earned and had a strikeout. Yimi Garcia worked 1.1 innings and allowed just one hit and fanned one
RHP Cody Anderson (4-1) got the win for the Captains. Anderson pitched six innings allowing just two hits and one walk. Cody also struck out five on the afternoon. Cole Cook pitched three innings to earn his second save of the season. Cook gave up the homerun to Joe Winker. That was the only hit and only run that he surrendered all day. Cook Struck out four, and walked just one.
The Captains will hit the road for a quick three game series in South Bend, Indiana. This is the first series of the season between the Captains and the Silver Hawks. The Captains will send LHP Shawn Morimando (0-0,6.00) to the mound against RHP Jesse Darrah (3-1, 3.48) for South Bend. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
