Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - Jeremy Lucas had three hits, and led the Captains to a 5-0 Win over South Bend. Lucas scored twice and also had one RBI. Lake County (11-20) defeated South Bend (20-10) to set up a rubber game on Friday.
The Captains scored two runs in the first inning. With two on base, Nellie Rodriguez singled home Dorssys Paulino and the score was 1-0 Captains. One batter later Jeremy Lucas singled up the middle and Logan Vick raced around from second base to make the score 2-0.
Lake County tacked on one run in the fourth inning when Claudio Bautista singled home Jeremy Lucas. The score was 3-0 Captains. Lake County added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Lucas singled and scored on a double by Erik Gonzalez. Gonzalez raced around to touch home plate on a single by Anthony Santander, and the score was 5-0 Captains.
RHP Jake Sisco started the game for the Captains. Sisco lasted just one inning. In the first a ball deflected off of his arm and Sisco was removed. DJ Brown took over in the second inning for the Captains. Brown (1-0) got the win after pitching four scoreless innings. Jack Wagoner twirled two scoreless innings in relief. Francisco Valera entered in the eighth inning and finished off the ball game for Lake County. Captains pitching held South Bend to just three hits.
RHP Brandon Sinnery got the ball for South Bend. Sinnery (0-1) took the loss. Sinnery went six innings, and allowed nine hits. He allowed five innings, all earned, one walk and five strikeouts. Thomas Brendel and Enrique Burgos pitched the final two innings for South Bend.
Friday is the first Fireworks Friday Night of the season presented by Universal Windows Direct. Fans will enjoy the first of nine post-game Friday night fireworks extravaganzas. There will also be nine Saturday Fireworks nights beginning May 18. The Captains Friday night concert kicks off as Festivus will entertain the crowd with a concert following the fireworks show. They will perform on stage adjacent to Castaways Bar which will remain open throughout the show. The Captains will feature iconic local bands following every Friday night home game for the remainder of the season.
Lake County will start RHP Dylan Baker (0-2, 3.81) on Friday Night. South Bend will counter with RHP Blake Perry (0-1, 5.60). First pitch is at 6:30 PM.
