Bowling Green, KY - Dylan Floro's career night led the Bowling Green Hot Rods (21-11) to a 5-1 victory over the West Michigan Whitecaps (14-17) on Thursday night at Bowling Green Ballpark. The righty allowed just one run in a career-high six frames to assist the Hot Rods in evening the three-game series at one game apiece. Andrew Toles and Luke Maile each had two hits for the Hot Rods, who used a four-run surge in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.
Tommy Coyle scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning to provide the Hot Rods with their first lead of the series. Floro faced the minimum over his first three frames and did not allow the game-tying run until the sixth inning when Jeff Holm singled with two outs.
After witnessing the Whitecaps tie the score in the top of the sixth, the Hot Rods offense finally erupted for a big inning in the bottom half of the frame. Joey Rickard reached on an error to begin the inning, and the Hot Rods followed that with four consecutive base hits, including a Toles two-run single and a Maile RBI-double.
