
Captains Fall in 10 Innings

Lake County Captains News Release
(Hagerstown, MD) - The Hagerstown Suns scored a run in the top of the tenth inning on a passed ball by Captains catcher Adam Davis and beat the Lake County Captains 3-2 on Saturday. The Captains are now 9-8 in extra inning games.
The Suns scored first in the third inning on ground out by Mark Gildea off of Captains starter Chris Archer that scored a run and then Jose Lozada followed with a solo home run and it was 2-0. The Captains tied it at 2-2 in the top of the seventh inning on a RBI single by Ron Rivas and a sacrifice fly from Juan Valdes.
Archer did not factor in the decision going six innings allowing two runs on three hits, walking two and striking out seven. John Gaub came on in the seventh inning then threw three scoreless innings striking out six. Gary Campfield pitched the tenth inning and his record fell to 7-4. Ryan Buchter threw 3.2 scoreless innings in relief and picked up the win to even his record at 2-2.
The Captains play game two of the three game series on Sunday at 7:05 PM. The Captains will send LHP Ryan Morris (9-5, 3.50) to the mound to face the Suns RHP Brad Meyers (9-7, 4.79) with game time at 7:05 PM. All Captains games can be heard on AM 1330 WELW, WELW.COM or CAPTAINSBASEBALL.COM.
The Lake County Captains will take on the West Virginia Power in the South Atlantic League's Northern Division Championship Series beginning on Wednesday September 3rd at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, WV with game time at 7:05 PM. The Power is the Class "A" Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The series will be a best of three games with game two being played at Classic Park in Eastlake on Friday September 5th at 7:05 PM. Game three, if necessary, will be played on Saturday September 6th also at Classic Park at 7:05 PM.
The winner of the series will play the winner of Southern Division Championship series between the August GreenJackets and Asheville Tourists. The SAL Championship series is best of five games with the first two games being played in the Southern Division Champions stadium beginning of Monday September 8th.
Tickets for all Captains home games including the 2008 SAL Playoffs are on sale at the Classic Park box office, by phone at 440-954-WINS (9467) or at captainsbaseball.com. Tickets for the Playoffs remain the same as regular season game tickets, $9 reserved seat, $7 bleachers, juniors, and seniors, $6 lawn. Lawn seats for the Playoffs will only be sold once the reserved seats and bleachers are sold out. The $7 group rate will still apply to groups of 20 or more.
