
'Caps Lose Fourth Straight

MIDLAND, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps lost control of two different leads as part of a 10-4 loss to the Great Lakes Loons Wednesday at Dow Diamond.
After taking a 2-0 lead in the first, the "Caps gave up three runs in the second. Once West Michigan take a 4-3 lead in the fifth, they lost the advantage in the sixth and gave up five runs in the seventh to break a 4-4 tie.
A two-run double by Rey Rivera opened the scoring in the first before Brayan Morales lifted a go-ahead sacrifice fly to take a 3-2 lead. Jose Azocar's run-scoring triple tied the game at three before Jordan Pearce's RBI-single gave the Whitecaps a 4-3 lead. Mitch Hansen highlighted a five-run seventh with a grand slam to break the tie. The Loons took a 10-4 lead and coasted to a 10-5 victory.
Reliever Felix Viloria (1-1) gave up five runs in a single inning of work in his first loss, while Dan Jagiello (1-1) tossed four perfect innings while striking out four to earn his first win of the season. The Whitecaps fall to 32-34 and have lost 15 of their last 21 games. The Loons improved to 24-40 with the win. Colby Bortles went 2-for-4 in the loss. Outfielder Ulrich Bojarski went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and run batted in for the "Caps in the loss.
