Worcester Tornadoes News Release
WORCESTER, MA--- The Quebec Capitales put a stop to a Worcester four game win streak this evening by doubling up on the Tornadoes 8-4.
The night had a very promising start for rookie right-hander Ryan Quinn (0-3) as he sat down the side in order, including a strike out, in the top of the first. The rest of the outing though was more of the same from his previous two. Five walks, three strikeouts, and six runs through three and two thirds and his night was finished. Chris Anderson and Brandon Short followed in long relief but the seven runs was a bit too tall an order for the home team to answer. Goefrey Tomlinson and Ivan Naccarata both had two RBI nights.
Worcester's only sign of offensive life came in the bottom of the fifth, when the black and orange were able to plate four runs on four hits and a walk against rookie James Kukucka (1-0) who had a no hitter up to that point. Jeff LaHair, Lucas Taylor, Carlos Sosa and Chris Colabello (in his first start since missing six games with a strained hamstring) drove home the Tornadoes runs.
After last nights performance Jason Schutt was demoted from the role of Capitale closer, and Derek McDaid was given the reins. He pitched a scoreless ninth tonight in a non-save situation.
The Tornadoes try to jump-start another winning streak tomorrow night when Chris Farley (4-2), winner of his last three straight decisions, takes the mound against Chris Allen (4-7) for the Caps at 7:05.
