Sussex Skyhawks News Release
AUGUSTA, N.J. - Wayne Lundgren kept Sussex scoreless through seven innings to pitch the Brockton Rox to a 8-4 win over the Skyhawks at Skylands Park on Wednesday night. Lundgren ran into trouble in the eighth and finished by giving up four runs on six hits over seven innings to pick up his seventh win of the season. Lundgren walked two and struck out six.
Brockton pounded out 15 hits and was led offensively by catcher Chris Grossman, who was 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored and Chris Valencia, who was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored. Keith Brachold finished 3-for-5 with a run scored for Brockton.
In a bright spot for Sussex, Jesse Fuller stroked a single in his first professional at bat to lead off the top of the eighth inning. Fuller came around to score on a Ron Perodin single to right. Mark Pappas added a two-run double to help pull Sussex closer, but it was too little too late.
Sussex and Brockton return to Skylands Park on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. for the final game of the five game series.
