Madison Capitols News Release
The Muskegon Lumberjacks spoil the Capitols night in game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, defeating Madison 4-3 in overtime.
Muskegon's Joey Larson put home a loose puck out front 4:36 into the overtime period to give the Lumberjacks the victory. The Lumberjacks now go up 2-1 in the best-of-5 series.
The Caps scored first for the first time this series when Quinn Finley buried a rebound out front off a Luke Mittelstadt shot with just 13 seconds left in the 1st period. Tied at 1-1, captain Casey Severo netted his second goal of the playoffs following up his initial shot going top shelf to give the Caps a 2-1 lead at 7:08 of the 2nd period. Things would be all even at 2-2 after 40 minutes of hockey.
54 seconds into the 3rd period, Tyler Haskins capitalized off a Muskegon turnover to once again give the Capitols a lead at 3-2.
The Capitols outshot the Lumberjacks 46-34 in tonight's contest including 17-6, after the opening 20 minutes.
The two Eastern Conference opponents will do it all over again tomorrow in Game 4. Puck drop at 7:05 p.m.
