
Capitols Defend Cheese Cup Title in Home Opener

MADISON, WI - The Madison Capitols, a member of the United States Hockey League, will host the Green Bay Gamblers at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center in their Home Opener for the 2016-17 season at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, President Bob Gazich announced on Tuesday.
The Capitols will drop the puck with the Gamblers to kick off the home series of the Cheese Cup competition with their in-state rivals. Over the past two seasons, the Capitols have taken the Cheese Cup both years with a 5-3-0 record against the Gamblers during the 2015-16 season, and a 6-1-1 record during the 2014-15 season.
"We are excited to kick off our third season with our Home Opener against Green Bay," explained Gazich. "The Gamblers are our in-state rival, and it is sure to start the 2016-17 home season with a great on-ice battle!"
The complete schedule for the 2016-17 season will be announced at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27.
