Stampede Set to Host Tri-City in Home Opener on September 24

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede announced their home opener for the 2016-17 season on Tuesday. The Herd will face the defending Clark Cup champion Tri-City Storm at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on Saturday, September 24th at 7:05 PM in the season opener. It marks the second straight year the Herd will open the season at home.

The Stampede will have several different activities planned around the season and home opener, including a tailgate party. The first 1,500 kids 14-and-under will receive a Stampede replica jersey, compliments of Waterbury Heating & Cooling and Coleman Heating & Air Conditioning. More information on all activities planned for the opener will be announced at a later date. The Stampede's complete 2016-17 season schedule will be released on Wednesday.

The Herd are coming off another historic season in which they set the USHL single season attendance record for the second straight season, drawing over 200,000 fans over 30 games. The Stampede not only led the USHL in average attendance (6,687 fans per-game), but ranked in the top three in attendance amongst the 28 ECHL ("AA" professional hockey), fifth of all 59 Division I college hockey programs and in the top ten among all 30 American Hockey League (AHL) teams, the top affiliate league in the USHL.

Single game tickets will go on sale in early September. Season and partial plan tickets are now available through the Stampede office.
