Capitols Announce Roster for 2016-17 Season

MADISON, WI - The Madison Capitols, a member of the United States Hockey League, announced their roster for the 2016-17 season on Thursday.

The Capitols team consists of 10 returning players from the 2015-16 season: forwards Alec Broetzman, Eugene Fadyeyev, Marcel Godbout, Mick Messner, Marshall Moise, Eetu Selanne, and Billy Jerry, defensemen Robby Fosdick and Cole Hults, and goaltender Daniel Lebedeff.

Joining Madison for their first season are forwards Anthony Callin, Vincent de Mey, Verners Egle, Kasey Fitzjerrells, Kevin O'Neil, Simon Sagissor, Kamil Sadlocha, and Noah Weber, defensemen Nick Austin, Ryan Carlson, Philip Nyberg, Austin Redders, and Andong Song, and goaltender Dryden McKay.

"We are ready to drop the puck in Green Bay on Friday and get the season started," said Capitols Head Coach and General Manager Garrett Suter. "The guys have been working hard in practice and are ready to compete."

Of the 24 players on the Capitols roster, there are 17 players who were drafted by Madison over the last three seasons. The Capitols have five players who were drafted in the 2014 USHL Draft, five players from the 2015 USHL Draft, and seven players from the 2016 USHL Draft.

Weber is currently on the Capitols' injured list.

Madison kicks off the 2016-17 season with a trip north to play their in-state rivals, the Green Bay Gamblers at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016. Again this season, the two teams will be competing for the coveted Wisconsin Cheese Cup, presented by the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, The Mousehouse Cheesehaus and Emmi Roth. The team with the best head-to-head record will win the trophy. The Capitols are two-time reigning champions of the Wisconsin Cheese Cup.
