
Canucks recall Kavanagh

The Vancouver Canucks announced that right winger Pat Kavanagh has been recalled from the Manitoba Moose.
Kavanagh, 23, has played in 51 games this season for the Moose and registered 12 goals and ten assists for 22 points with a +6 rating and 86 penalty minutes. He holds the team lead with three shorthanded markers. The four-year pro tallied his second career hat trick and an assist (a career-high four point game) on Feb. 19 against Houston. Kavanagh set a season-high and tied his career-high with a four-game point streak (Feb.7-13/03).
Last season, Kavanagh played in 70 AHL games with Manitoba. He notched 13 goals (tied with a team-high five game-winning goals) and 19 assists with 100 penalty minutes. His 32 points tied him for ninth in Moose scoring. In the 2002 AHL playoffs, Kavanagh had one goal in seven contests with six PIM.
Kavanagh made his NHL debut for the Canucks on April 14/01 against Colorado in the Stanley Cup Quarter Final playoff series. He saw action in three Stanley Cup playoff games and registered two PIM. The 6'3" forward set pro career-highs in the 2000-01 campaign when he scored 26 goals and 15 assists for 41 points with Kansas City (IHL).
Vancouver acquired Kavanagh in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers for Vancouver's sixth round choice (Konstantin Rudenko) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft on June 1, 1999. He was originally drafted by Philadelphia with the Flyers' second choice, 50th overall, in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
