
Canton Outlasts Bakersfield for 98-95 Win

The Canton Charge (6-4), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, defeated the Bakersfield Jam, 98-95, Thursday night at the Canton Memorial Civic Center. The victory was the Charge's fifth in the last six games.
With the game knotted at 77-77 heading into the final frame, the Canton defense turned up the intensity on the Jam to allow just 18 points on 6-of-24 shooting in the final 12 minutes. The turning point came with the Charge trailing 91-85 and 4:15 left, the hosts clamped down to hold Bakersfield scoreless for 3:59 amidst a 10-0 run to pull ahead for good. Canton helped to seal the deal by hitting 9-of-12 free-throws to close the game.
Six Charge players scored in double figures, including all five starters. Antoine Agudio led Canton with a season-high 23 points on 6-of-8 shooting and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line with five rebounds and four assists. Cavaliers' assignee Alex Kirk posted his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 boards in 33 minutes of action. Brandon Paul came off the bench to provide 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting with three rebounds in 16 minutes.
Bakersfield's Earl Barron had a monster night, posting 43 points on 18-of-28 shooting with 12 boards in 39 minutes. Casey Prather contributed 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting in 20 minutes of relief off the bench. Mac Koshwal added a double-double of 10 points and 11 boards with two steals in 34 minutes for the Jam.
