
Canseco Double Propels Cats to Series Sweeep

The Fort Worth Cats kept up their winning ways on Sunday as the defeated the Edinburg Roadrunners 9-4 to sweep the series and remain undefeated.
Edinburg (0-4) starting pitcher Makoto Ozone held the Cats (4-0) scoreless through the first three and two-thirds innings, but then hit a batter and walked another before being pulled for Taylor Reid. Reid loaded the bases with a hit-by-pitch and walked right fielder Aljay Davis to give the Cats their first run.
The next batter, designated hitter Jose Canseco, launched a line drive to left center field that fell just a few feet short of clearing the fence. Canseco ended up at second with a three RBI double.
Canseco went one for five on the evening.
The Cats added another run in the fifth on center fielder Cameron Monger's single and rallied for three more in the sixth after the Roadrunners cut the lead to 5-3.
From then on the Cats didn't look back.
Starting pitcher Jeff Sakowski held Edinburg to only one hit through five innings pitched.
The Edinburg pitching staff hit five Cats batters and walked another eight in the duration of the game.
After the sweep and the San Angelo Colts loss to the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings on Sunday, the Cats are in sole possession of first place in United League Baseball.
The Cats are off on Monday and will face the WhiteWings (1-3) on Tuesday as the first game of a four-game series.
