Canes Recall Jaccob Slavin from Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Jaccob Slavin (JAY-kuhb SLAY-vihn) from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Slavin will join the team for its practice on Thursday at PNC Arena at 11 a.m.

This marks the first NHL recall for the 21-year-old Slavin, who currently leads all Charlotte defensemen with seven assists. The Eric, CO, native also leads all Checkers skaters with a plus-6 plus/minus rating, and ranks tied for first among Checkers defensemen with seven points. Slavin (6'2", 205 lbs.) is in his first professional season after playing two years of collegiate hockey at Colorado College. The Hurricanes drafted Slavin in the fourth round, 120th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
