Canaries To Host 5K Race For Charity

SIOUX FALLS, SD (May 23, 2007) - The Sioux Falls Canaries will hold their second annual charity 5K Run on Sunday, June 24 at the Birdcage. The event, presented by Caribou Coffee, will benefit the Children's Miracle Network and Sanford Children's Hospital.

The front gates of the stadium will serve as the starting line with the race winding its way through the neighboring streets and finishing up at home plate. The start gun fires promptly at 12:30 p.m., with the Canaries taking on the El Paso Diablos at 2:05 p.m.

"Last year, in the inaugural event, we had a terrific turnout and we hope to have even more runners sign up this year," said Canaries GM Matt Hansen. "Our goal as an organization is to continue to find ways to give back to the community and we are proud to be partnering with the good folks at Caribou Coffee to benefit CMN and the Sanford Children's Hospital".

"We are confident that this is the type of event that will continue to grow-becoming bigger and better each subsequent year."

For the $25.00 entry fee, runners will receive:

- Special Event T-Shirt

- Post-Race Picnic

- Ticket to the 2:05 p.m. game against El Paso

- Five dollars from every entry fee will be donated to the Children's Miracle Network and Sanford Children's Hospital.

There will also be a special FREE children's fun run and runners are encouraged to bring their children to the event. For the competitive runners, the winners of six different age brackets (male and female) will receive awards.

Interested runners my pick up registration forms at both Sioux Falls Caribou Coffee locations, register on-line at the Canaries website www.canariesbaseball.com or call the Canaries office (333-0179). There will be limited registration the day of the event.

Tonight the Sioux Falls Canaries will honor local teachers during "Teacher Appreciation Night" at the Birdcage. Billion Toyota and Granite City Brewery have teamed up to purchase ticket vouchers for teachers at Sioux Falls, Brandon, Harrisburg, and Tea public schools. The ticket vouchers given to the teachers are good for two tickets to tonight's game.
