Pels Wrap-up Series with El Paso with Loss

The Pensacola Pelicans and El Paso Diablos finished their three-game series tonight in Pensacola. El Paso edged out the Pelicans winning 6-3 and the series two games to one in front of 1,558 fans.

A pair of starting left-handed pitchers kept the score close until the 6th inning. Dwayne Hall threw a solid five innings for the Pelicans, allowing one run on three hits with strike outs. El Paso scored first in the third inning when Jordan Belcher crossed home plate. Trino Aguilar tied the game in the 5th with a solo home run, his 2nd in as many nights.

El Paso's starting pitcher Charles O'Neal picked up his second win, throwing six innings and allowing two runs on five hits. He also struck out five.

The Diablos got two more runs in the 6th inning to take the lead. Pensacola plated one in the bottom of the inning thanks to doubles by Bo Brown and JD Reininger.

In the 7th inning, El Paso scored three un-earned runs capped by Walter Olmstead two-run home run to left field.

Pensacola scored on more in the 8th by an RBI put-out from Reininger making the final score 6-3.

Pensacola kicks off a three-game series against the Shreveport Sports Friday night at 6:35 p.m. Every fan receives a free Pelicans logo camo hat in honor of Memorial Day.
