
Canaries Open Spring Training Tomorrow

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Canaries Baseball Club will take to the field for the first time this season tomorrow (Saturday) at 11 AM for their first official practice. Nearly 30 players will be vying for a spot on the 2014 roster.
The Birds will practice Saturday and Sunday before departing for Yankton on Monday for the first of six exhibition games on their schedule. On May 6th and 7th the Birds will head north to face Winnipeg for a two-game series before returning to South Dakota on May 9th to battle Sioux City in Huron. Exhibition play will close out at the Birdcage on May 11th and 12th with a two-game series against the St. Paul Saints. First pitch on the 11th is 4:05 PM and the game is free and open to the public. The game on the 12th will begin at 11:05 AM and tickets are just $5 each or free if you are a season ticket holder.
Ticket information for the game in Yankton will be made available in the coming days. Fans interested in traveling to Huron on May 9th should contact Steve Gohn at 605-354-1118. That game will be a benefit for the Huron Community Foundation.
The season and home opener is scheduled for Thursday, May 15th at Sioux Falls Stadium against Sioux City. Game time is 7:05 PM and tickets are available now through the Canaries Box Office.
