Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

(COLUMBUS, NE) –The Canaries dropped to 0-3 on the exhibition season as they continued to give their young pitchers extensive looks, falling 14-8 at the hands of the Lincoln Saltdogs. Lincoln has now scored at least ten runs in each of their three exhibition contests.

After pounding out just two hits an evening ago, the Canaries got hits from all but one starter in the lineup. CF Tyrone Pendergrass and 3B Troy Farnsworth each hit three-run homers in the loss, while 1B Desi Wilson went 3-4 and rookie INF Joe Rhomberg was 2-4 with two doubles and a run driven in.

RHP Shayn Holbrook took the loss for the Canaries as the young hurler surrendered six runs in two innings, including a grand slam off the bat of INF Josh Patton. LHP Dallas Mahan provided a bright spot on the hill for the Canaries, striking out four Saltdogs over two innings.

The Canaries finally get their home exhibition season underway Friday night when they entertain the visiting Kansas City T-Bones. First pitch is slated for 7:03 PM.
