Canadians Win Second Straight In Walkoff Style

July 31, 2016 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release

Vancouver, B.C.- A slow rolling ground ball in the bottom of the 9th inning, off the bat of DH Nash Knight couldn't be handled by Tri-City 3B Boomer White, allowing LF Rodrigo Orozco to score from third base capping off a memorable 5-4 victory for Vancouver on Saturday night.

The Canadians trailed 4-0 heading to the bottom of the 7th inning but managed three runs off of Tri-City reliever Dalton Erb who walked three and allowed a two-run single to RF Josh Palacios that scored both Bryan Lizardo (single) and Cavan Biggio (walk).

With the Canadians heading to the bottom of the 9th inning down by a lone run, Vancouver plated a pair off of Dust Devils reliever Evan Miller who walked a pair and watched his defense self-implode with a pair of errors to help Vancouver to the improbable victory.

With the win, Vancouver improves to 2-3 (.400) on the second half, three games back of Everett (5-0), while Tri-City falls to 1-4 (.200) and now look to Sunday to avoid the three-game sweep at the hands of the Canadians in advance of the Northwest League All-Star Break.

Vancouver will play the finale of this three-game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:05pm out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium. Vancouver will send Luis Sanchez to the mound in search of the Canadians third straight victory.
