Canadians Swing to Victory over Frogs, 9-0
July 7, 2018 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Everett AquaSox News Release
Everett, WA - Everett's bats stayed quiet against Vancouver Friday night as they would lose the rubber match of the series, 9-0. Rehab starter Rob Whalen finished with 2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, and 2 SO in his first outing in Everett.
Whalen had a quick night Friday as he quickly allowed two deep home runs over the right-field fence in the second inning to make the score, 2-0 Vancouver.
Max Roberts would relieve Whalen in the top of the third to try and tame Vancouver's offensive attack. The Canadians lead would increase in the fifth inning, when Vancouver would bring in three more runs, 5-0. Tanner Kirwer hit a solo shot over the left field fence, Yorman Rodriguez picked up an RBI on a groundout, and a Bryan Lizardo double would bat in the fifth Vancouver run.
Vancouver would not let up in the eighth inning as they batted in four more runs off the bats of Rodriguez, Griffin Conine, and Sterling Guzman. This would prove too much for the Frogs to surmount and the game would end 9-0 Canadians.
Everett will hit the road Saturday for a weekend series against Tri-City. They will return on Wednesday, July 11 to begin an eight-game homestand. Tickets for the series are available at AquaSox.com or by calling our Front Office (425) 258-3673.
