Canadians Shut Out Bears To Win Second Straight

August 14, 2012 - Northwest League (NWL) - Vancouver Canadians News Release

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - Canadians RHP Ben White pitched his most efficient game of the season on Monday night, going seven shutout innings as Vancouver topped Yakima 6-0 to maintain top spot in the Northwest League's West Division.

White kept the Bears offense off balance all night as he scattered four hits over his seven innings of work while striking out five to improve to 4-4 on the season. Vancouver RHP Tucker Donahue came into pitch the final two innings to preserve the shutout victory.

DH Art Charles broke up a pitcher's duel between RHP Ben White (4-4) and Yakima Bears RHP Kyle Owings (1-4) with a two run home run, scoring SS Jorge Flores (HPB). The fourth inning home run was Charles' third of the season since joining the Canadians on July 24th.

The Canadians added another two runs in the fifth inning with C Leo Hernandez scoring on a single by CF Ian Parmley, who in-turn scored on a two out single by Flores. RHP Victor Acosta would enter the game in relief but committed a balk that would score Flores from third base before the Bears could end the inning.
