Hawks Pitching Leads Way over Salem-Keizer 7-0

BOISE, Idaho - Tayler Scott and two relievers combined on a seven-hit shutout as the Boise Hawks evened their five game series with Salem-Keizer at two game apiece with a 5-0 victory over the Volcanoes, before 2,568 fans at Memorial Stadium.

Scott picked up his team leading fifth victory with five innings of four-hit ball, with Tyler Bremer adding three scoreless innings and Eddie Orozco fanned two in the ninth to complete the sixth Boise shutout of the season.

Dan Vogelbach lined an RBI single in the fourth to give the Hawks a 1-0, with Xavier Batista golfing his third homer of the series in the fifth to extend the lead to 2-0. Boise would plate three insurance runs in the eighth, one on a Trey Martin safety squeeze, with Jeimer Candelario adding a two-game single to make it 5-0.

Martin and Gioskar Amaya each had two hits in the victory, with Ryan Jones going 2-for-3 in the loss for S-K.

Game 5 of the series is tomorrow at 7:15 p.m., with Ian Dickson meeting Chris Stratton.

NOTES: The Cubs announced this afternoon that first-round pick Albert Almora will join the Hawks tomorrow night...prior to the game, LHP Willengton Cruz was promoted to the Peoria Chiefs...Marco Hernandez saw his 18-game hit streak snapped, going 0-for-3...Bremer worked out of a bases loaded, one-out jam in the seventh by turning a 1-2-3 double play to get out of the was the fourth combined shutout for Scott this season, tops in the Northwest time was 2:12, the shortest nine-inning game of the year for Boise.
