
Canadians get six strong from RHP Javier Avendano to maintain lead in West

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - A four-run bottom of the 1st inning combined with six scoreless frames from RHP Javier Avendano helped the Canadians open up a crucial three-game series vs. Everett with a convincing 5-0 win on Thursday night out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.
Vancouver would send nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the 1st inning producing four runs which included a two-out double from RF Matt Newman off of Everett starter RHP Dylan Unsworth that scored both SS Jorge Flores (single) and 1B Balbino Fuenmayor (single) to give the Canadians an early 4-0 lead.
Canadians starter RHP Javier Avendano went six scoreless innings to improve to 6-1 on the season, striking out seven to drop his Northwest League leading ERA to just 1.41. Vancouver would get scoreless frames from LHP Colton Turner (2.0IP) and RHP Eric Brown (1.0IP) to preserve the victory.
Vancouver would tack on an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th inning when LF Dwight Smith Jr. singled to left field off of Everett reliever RHP Dominic Leone scoring 1B Balbino Fuenmayor (walk) to make the final 5-0.
