(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - A three-run outburst in the top of the 5th inning chased Canadians starter RHP Starlyn Suriel from Wednesday's game as the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped Vancouver 6-1 with Steve Garvey in attendance as part of the 2014 Superstar Series presented by The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Blakes.

Vancouver's bats, which had been productive through the first three games of the series, fell silent on Wednesday, as the Salem-Keizer pitching staff held them to a single run on just five hits. It marked the first time the C's failed to score at least three vs. the Volcanoes all season.

Salem-Keizer starter RHP Jason Forjet was much more effective in his second start against Vancouver, picking up the win for his six innings, allowing just a lone run, scattering five hits and a pair of walks to go with three strikeouts.

The bullpen was a real source of strength for the Volcanoes allowing just three base runners, all on walks to keep the Canadians at an arm's length over the final few frames.

Canadians' Starlyn Suriel had easily his worst outing of the season, dodging trouble in seemingly every frame. The young Dominican almost got out of the game with minimal damage but was touched up for three more runs in his final inning on a pair of hits and walks, and his own throwing error on a sac-bunt attempt. Suriel exited the game with the loss allowing eight hits, four walks, and a hit batter, for four runs (three earned) over his 4.2 innings pitched.

The Volcanoes would add a couple more in the seventh to put to rest any comeback hopes. Designated-hitter Geno Escalente led the Salem-Keizer offense with three hits in five at bats, driving in a pair and scoring once, while first baseman Jonathan Jones drew a season-high four walks.

The loss snaps the Canadians win streak at four and keeps them three games back of Spokane who fell in extra innings to Eugene. Vancouver will have the chance to take four of five from Salem-Keizer in the series finale tomorrow night, game scheduled for 7:05pm PST.
