August 12, 2012 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - A two-run home run from Yakima CF Micheal Lang off of Canadians reliever RHP Nick Purdy was enough to hand Vancouver a 3-1 loss on Saturday night in front of a sold out Scotiabank Field crowd of 5,157.
The Bears opened the scoring in the top of the 4th inning when DH Jacob House hit his 1st home run of the season off of Vancouver starter RHP Javier Avendano who went five innings, allowing one hit while striking out five.
C's 1B Art Charles evened the game at 1-1 in the home half of the inning when he hit his 2nd home run of the summer off of Yakima starter RHP Blake Perry who left the game an inning later with a sprained ankle shortly after C Daniel Klein hit a double down the right field line.
The Canadians only mistake came in the top of the 6th inning when RHP Nick Purdy left a fastball up in the zone to CF Michael Lang who hit a game-winning two run home run to left field with 2B Jesus Abreu on board to give the Bears the 3-1 victory.
The combination of RHP Zach Breault (1.0IP) and RHP Matt Johnson (1.0IP) limited Yakima's offense to just one hit over the game's final two frames.
