Boise Hawks News Release
Boise, Idaho - The Hawks once again rallied in the ninth but came up short on Thursday night as they lost their second consecutive game to the Vancouver Canadians, 6-1.
The Canadians took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, putting together a two-out rally off Hawks starting pitcher, Logan Sawyer.
The Hawks responded in the bottom of the second when Terry McClure scored on a Wilkyns Jimenez RBI single, tightening the game at 2-1.
The Canadians added four runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a Sean Hurley three-run home run that broke the game open at 6-1.
The score remained until the bottom of the ninth inning when the Hawks scored three runs and brought the winning run to the plate but could seal the deal as they fell by a final score of 6-4.
Sawyer picked up his second loss of the season, pitching five innings and giving up six earned runs on eight hits with one strikeout.
Clinton Hollon got the start and collected his second win of the season for the Canadians.
The Hawks (15-27, 1-3 second half) will be in action again tomorrow night for game three of this five game series. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m.
Notes: The Hawks are now 2-23 when trailing entering the ninth inning... Wilkyns Jimenez gathered two RBI's on the evening... Terry McClure went 2 for 4 with two singles and the Hawks only stolen base.
