Vancouver Canadians News Release

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - Canadians RHP Dalton Rodriguez (1-1) put together his best outing of the season while DH Jacob Anderson went 3-for-4 with his 1st home run of the season as Vancouver opened a five-game series against the Hillsboro Hops with a 4-2 victory on Thursday night.

Rodriguez went 6 1/3 innings for the Canadians, bouncing back from an opening series loss in Spokane (6/18) as the native of Mexicali, Mexico allowed just three hits and a pair of unearned runs as the Canadians defense committed an uncharacteristic four errors. Vancouver's bullpen stepped up again in the face of adversity with RHP Griffin Glaude (0.2IP), RHP Nick Hartman (1.0IP) and RHP Jackson Lowery (1.0IP) throwing shutout innings to secure the win over the two-time, defending Northwest League Champions.

Offensively, Anderson was the story with his 1st home run of the summer coming off of Hops starter RHP Tyler Mark (0-2) in the bottom of the 4th inning. The former 1st Round Selection of the Toronto Blue Jays would bump his season batting average to .348 with the productive night at the plate. RF D.J. McKnight was also a factor going 1-for-3 with a run scored and through his first four games, is hitting .455.

Notes: RHP Nick Hartman made his professional debut on the mound for the C's going one inning, allowing a lone hit in the bottom of the 8th inning... Canadians RHP Jackson Lowery managed his 2nd save of the season in as many chances and has yet to allow a run over his 4.1IP this summer.

With the victory, Vancouver maintains a share of top spot in the Northwest League at 4-3 (.571) heading into Friday's Scotiabank 'Nooner at The Nat, set for 1:05pm. The Canadians will send LHP Juliandry Higuera (1-0, 1.80) to the mound after a five-inning victory at Spokane (6/19).

The Canadians also announced on Thursday that both Saturday (6/25) and Sunday's (6/26) games are now SOLD OUT. Tickets remain for Friday's Scotiabank 'Nooner at The Nat and Monday night's series finale (6/27) as Developmental Disabilities Association welcomes the first 500 kids 12 and under with a backpack giveaway as they enter the ballpark.
