Calgary Stampeders News Release

The Calgary Stampeders have signed free-agent national receiver Rory Kohlert.

Kohlert is a five-year CFL veteran who played 85 career regular-season games, including 71 starts, for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 2012-16. The 29-year-old Regina native has 160 career catches for 1,630 yards and nine touchdowns. In 2016, Kohlert had 29 catches for 283 yards and one major and was two-for-two in passing including his first career touchdown pass in an Oct. 8 win over the BC Lions.

"Rory is an all-around receiver with good pass-catching ability and he's a reliable blocker in the run game," said Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson.

Kohlert attended training camp with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2011 after signing as an undrafted free agent. His rights briefly belonged to the Ottawa RedBlacks when he was selected in the Dec. 16, 2013, expansion draft before his contract expired and he re-signed with the Blue Bombers in February of 2014.

Prior to coming to the CFL, Kohlert played for the University of Saskatchewan and the Regina Thunder juniors.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Calgary Stampeders," said Kohlert.
