
Canada Day Classic As Caps Crush Maui 14-4

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Capitals could not have had a more successful Canada Day game, both on the field and in the stands, as they crushed Maui Na Koa Ikaika 14-4 in front of a season best crowd of 5,765 on Friday night at TELUS Field.
Starting pitcher Daryl Arreola tossed an absolute gem for the Caps, throwing eight shutout innings and giving up just two hits in that time before giving way to the bullpen who eventually finished off the victory. Edmonton improved to 22-12 with the blowout win and is now 1.5 games up on the Lake County Fielders for first place in the North American League overall standings.
Shortstop Enrique Cruz was the offensive dynamo for the Caps on Friday, as he hit a home run, a triple and two doubles, scoring three times and driving in four runs. He was a single away from hitting for the cycle. Left fielder Todd Linden also had a big night with three hits and two RBI, while right fielder Tom Collaro and centre fielder Steve Brown also hit home runs.
The Canada Day Series presented by Mott's concludes on Saturday at 7 p.m. with the fifth and final game against Maui. Edmonton Oilers 2011 first-overall draft pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will be throwing the ceremonial first pitch and signing autographs. And for one more Canada Day Series game, Caesars will be on sale for just $3.
The first 400 fans at Saturday's game will receive a wristband upon arrival, giving them access to the Nugent-Hopkins autograph session. Only fans who have wristbands will be allowed to line up for autographs. There will also be a silent auction for an autographed Nugent-Hopkins Oilers jersey.
The Capitals are the city's most affordable entertainment option in the summer featuring Edmonton's largest patio! Season seats start at less than $9 per seat.
