North Shore 3, Sussex 0

North Shore starting pitcher Joey Siak was sensational today in leading the Spirit to a series sweep of the Sussex Skyhawks. Siak tossed a complete game shutout allowing only three hits and a walk while striking out three. It is the second complete game of the season for the lefthander and moves his record to 5-6. North Shore would score all the runs they needed in the bottom of the third inning on a throwing error by Skyhawks' catcher Jason Alcott and an RBI groundout by 3B Vic Davilla. The Spirit tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a wild pitch by Sussex reliever Jake Upwood. With the win, North Shore moves into first place in the Can-Am League, a ½ game ahead of Quebec.

What a time to hit your first home run of the season! New Haven County C Matt Hackney smacked his first home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Cutters a 3-2 victory over the Quebec Capitales. Hackney, along with the home run, went 2-for-4 on the day. DH Derrick Gibson also had a good day at the plate going 3-for-4 and hitting his 10th dinger of the season. It is his third home run in the last two games. Cory Willey picked up his fifth win of the season in relief for New Haven County pitching a scoreless ninth giving up two hits and a walk.

New Jersey 6, Nashua 1

New Jersey 3B Guillermo Reyes went 2-for-5 with a run scored, two RBI, and a home run to get the Jackals a big win over the Pride. Jackals C Clay Kuklick and DH Joey Gomes each chipped in with two hits as well with Kuklick driving in three runs. Raul Valdes pitched tremendous today going seven innings allowing only four hits with five strikeouts. Valdes picks up his sixth win of the year. For the Pride, they were led at the plate by SS James Lofton who had a 2-for-4 outing.

Brockton 9, Worcester 5

HR: B-Francisco Lebron (5), Jason Radwan 2(7); W-Chris Colabello (7)

Brockton pounded out 14 hits and plated nine runs en route to a victory over the Worcester Tornadoes. Rox 1B Francisco Lebron and C Jason Radwan combined to go 6-for-10 with five runs scored, four RBI, and three home runs. LF Eugene Julien also had three hits in four plate appearances for Brockton. Rox starting pitcher John Kelly notched his league leading ninth win of the season tossing six efficient innings giving up three earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts. 1B Chris Colabello was the leader for the Tornadoes today as he had a 2-for-3 effort with two runs scored, an RBI, and a home run.
