Cameron Jones Named 2013 NBA Development League Most Improved Player

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Cameron Jones was named the 2013 NBA Development League Most Improved Player today, as voted on by the 16 NBA D-League head coaches. The award, which was instituted prior to the 2009-10 NBA D-League season, honors the player who demonstrated the most significant improvement through the course of the season.

Jones (6-4, 185, Northern Arizona) finished his second season in the NBA D-League and the first with the Santa Cruz Warriors, playing in all 50 of the team's regular-season games, 33 as a starter. He averaged 12.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 27.0 minutes during the course of the year.

He began the year coming off of Santa Cruz's bench, averaging 10.4 points in nine games in December, before entering the starting rotation and finishing the season averaging 13.8 points in 13 games in March. In three postseason games, all wins, for the Warriors, Jones has averaged 11.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 25.7 minutes.

"I'm proud to congratulate Cameron on a successful season in Santa Cruz, and am thrilled that his efforts have been recognized by the League's coaches."

Jones becomes the fourth player to receive Most Improved honors, joining Kenny Hayes (Maine, 2012), Dar Tucker (New Mexico, 2011) and Mildon Ambres (Idaho, 2010) as NBA D-League players to have earned the award.
