
Calgary Vipers Vs. Yuma Scorpions Suspended

Calgary Vipers News Release
Due to unplayable field conditions at Foothills Stadium in Calgary, Alberta tonight's, Thursday August 18th, North American League game between the Calgary Vipers and the Yuma Scorpions has been suspended. The game was halted in the bottom of the fourth inning with a runner on second base, one out, and Bryan Burke in a 0-1 count with Calgary leading the game 3-1. The nine-inning game will be resumed on Friday August 19th at 4:00 and will be followed by a seven-inning game for Glee Night at 6:30.
Calgary opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Wilver Perez walked to reach base for a league high 47th straight game and C.J. Ziegler launched his 21st home run of the season for a 2-0 advantage.
Yuma cut the lead in half in the second at 2-1 as Arnoldo Ponce tripled and Patrick Brooks collected a sacrifice fly.
The Vipers retook a two-run lead at 3-1 in the third frame when Perez singled, stole second base, advanced to third base on a throwing error, and scored on a Jimmy Rohan run batted in groundball.
Jose Canseco will join the Scorpions on Saturday August 20th at 5:05 PM for Serve and Protect Day along with Baseball Bonanza while before the game Heartland will take on Hell on Wheels in a Celebrity Softball Game benefiting Slave Lake. On Sunday August 21st the series will wrap up with Fan Appreciation Day at 1:35 including a Celebrity Home Run Derby before the game featuring Canseco, Theo Fleury, and Charlie Simmer.
Playoffs for the Vipers will start on Tuesday August 30th.
